Polyformaldehyde is short called POM, which is a prototyping processing material with good ductility and flexibility. At many times, it is used to make bearings and gears because of its low coefficient of friction, and the very stable physical and chemical properties.
Meanwhile, POM material can meet the need of high-temperature resitance. Due to its excellent thermostable property, it can be used in some high-speed operatiing machinery components. So, when we need to test structural experiment at high-temperature environment, it is a nice choice that to use the POM material prototype model.
POM vs Nylon
Moreover, POM material ordinary has two colors of white and black , which is similar to the Nylon material. Even most of time, POM and Nylon can be exchanged in the use of processing, because they are very difficult to be distinguished. So, there is a certain similarity on physical and chemical property between these two materials.
Application
When we are processing mechanical components, such as camera, video camera,engine or the gear of clock; or the parts on constructions, it is suitable to use POM material. On the plastic prototyping, when doing the structural test, use CNC milling machines to make some good hot runner part,the precision must be very high.
